150th Civil War Anniversary
In 2007 I converted the sensor of a Canon Rebel XTi (400D) to capture photos in the infrared spectrum. A 700 nanometer filter was placed on the sensor to block all visible light and only allow the infrared spectrum.
In early January of 2008 I was visiting Harpers Ferry West Virginia at the site of John Brown’s raid. This photo was my best capture from the trip and was the basis for a new photographic project. My goal was to document the 150th Anniversary of this raid and the eventual start of the Civil war in 1861 with my newly converted infrared camera.
Over the next 6 years (2009-2015) I would attend multiple events and re-enactments for this project. Shown below are a small collection of the photos I captured during this project.
